The EIC Call Pre-accelerator is part of the new Horizon Europe 2025 Work Program and is aimed at early-stage disruptive startups located in enlargement countries. These countries include both EU Member States and associated countries, which have historically had lower participation in R&D funding programs. The objective is to reduce innovation gaps in these regions by providing comprehensive support to startups facing barriers to their technological maturation and market entry readiness.
Objective and Scope
The main objective of this call is to foster the growth of startups that develop disruptive innovations based on scientific breakthroughs and require significant R&D investments. These companies often find it difficult to access funding due to high technological risks, which complicates their scaling. Focus on enlargement countries
The call supports startups in regions with lower R&D progress, seeking to increase their participation and success in the European research and innovation ecosystem. It focuses on companies with a Technology Maturity Level (TRL) 4, which have already validated their technologies in the lab and are moving towards more developed stages.
Financing and structure
The call offers Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) with a funding range between €300,000 and €500,000 per project, with a funding rate of 70% of eligible costs. Companies must co-finance the remaining 30%. The indicative total budget is €20 million.
Market and investor readiness
Support is provided for improving business models, conducting market research and managing regulatory and standardization requirements, with the aim of making these startups startups more attractive to private investors and funding agencies.
Technological maturation
